Trusting God

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the Lord. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.’” Isaiah 55:8-9

It is a wonderful thing when we are willing to admit that we don’t understand God’s ways. It’s as though in that moment, we are immediately pulled more closely into WHO He is and are able to let go of what we believed we had control over, which only ever serves as a burden.

We are not meant to have all the answers to our life’s questions, but to trust the One who does.

Trust, it's not something that is easily done. Sometimes it means letting go of what you believe, what you feel is rational, and putting it in someone else's control. It means letting things leave your control, and having hope that the person [or thing] you are trusting in comes through.

Of course, there are easier times to have trust. It seems a lot easier to trust God after winning a million dollars, or getting a new job, or having something good happen to you... but it seems so much harder to trust Him when things aren't going right.

Knowing God within all things gives us satisfaction in life, not having the answers TO all things. This only happens when we surrender our need to understand all things and instead, trust our Heavenly Father, the One who knows all things.

No matter how chaotic things appear to be, or how much we are struggling, God is right there with us. And while we may not always be able to depend on our jobs, or our banks, or even our government, we can always depend on God because God not only keeps His word; rest assured nothing can stop God from keeping His word.

Whether we are at our lowest of lows or highest of highs, God holds us there. Our intimacy with Him is what matters to Him. That is what gives us our peace and our comfort.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for not trusting and having faith that You know all things and can see the bigger picture of our lives. Today we choose to give You every area of our lives. We offer every moment to You. Teach us to see difficulties in our lives from Your perspective. Help us to focus on You and Your power. We want to be like Joshua and Caleb who believed in a good report and focused on You even in hard circumstances. Amen
